CAF Agrees A Blockbuster Deal to Power 2025 & 2026 AFCON. Here is What It Means
In what many are calling a game-changing move for African football, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has inked a landmark partnership with Africa Global Logistics (AGL), officially naming the logistics giant as the exclusive partner for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 and the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026.
The agreement was sealed in Johannesburg on April 23, 2025, with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and AGL President Philippe Labonne putting pen to paper in a moment that signals a deeper commitment to the growth and excellence of African football. This deal marks a continuation of the relationship that began during AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023, where AGL played a pivotal role in the seamless delivery of tournament operations.
Dr. Motsepe expressed his excitement about rekindling the partnership with AGL, describing the company as not just a logistics provider but a vital player in CAF’s long-term vision for football development across the continent. He emphasized that AFCON is more than a sporting event—it’s a continental celebration that unites over 1.5 billion viewers in 178 countries, and AGL’s involvement ensures that both the men’s and women’s tournaments are delivered with world-class precision. For Motsepe, this collaboration represents a larger mission: to leverage football as a force for social and economic upliftment in African communities.
On his part, Philippe Labonne described the partnership as a reflection of shared values—unity, passion, and a drive for excellence. He said AGL is proud to walk this journey with CAF again, this time with a renewed vision of transforming football into a driver of long-term growth. Labonne noted that the company’s focus goes beyond stadiums and transport; it’s about impacting lives, promoting local talent, and ensuring that women are equally represented in the sporting narrative. He stressed that with CAF, they’re not just organizing tournaments—they’re pushing Africa forward, one match, one community at a time.
What makes this deal especially huge is the broader scope it covers. AGL’s presence in 47 African countries gives it a reach and influence that aligns with CAF’s ambition to use football as a tool for development. The upcoming AFCON in Morocco promises to be more than a tournament—it’s expected to boost local economies, create jobs, enhance tourism, and strengthen infrastructure across host cities and beyond. And with WAFCON 2026 also on the horizon, the emphasis on supporting women’s football is a powerful nod to the importance of inclusivity and gender equality in sport.
Together, CAF and AGL are not just preparing to host tournaments- they are laying the foundation for a new era in African football, one where logistics meets legacy, and passion becomes progress.
