As Chelsea prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup, and the next season, the club is aggressively scouting top talents across Europe. Here’s a breakdown of the key names on their summer shortlist today as well as the update on each transfer:
Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United)
The 19-year-old winger is one of the brightest prospects at Old Trafford, but Chelsea believe he could be prised away if the right offer is made. His pace and flair make him a top target for Stamford Bridge, especially as the club looks to inject more youth and dynamism into its flanks.
Liam Delap (Ipswich Town)-
Delap has been a standout performer in a struggling Ipswich side, netting 12 goals in the Premier League. If Ipswich are relegated, his £30 million release clause will be triggered, drawing major interest from Chelsea. Bayern Munich, PSG and Juventus are also monitoring the 21-year-old who wants to be part of England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Victor Osimhen (Napoli)-
The Nigerian international remains one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe. Chelsea are among the clubs circling but prying him away from Napoli will be expensive. Still, the Blues are determined to add a proven goalscorer to their frontline and Osimhen is high on their list.
Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)-
Currently on loan from Juventus, Huijsen has impressed at Bournemouth with his composure and ball-playing ability. Chelsea view the 19-year-old Dutch defender as a long-term investment and are keen to beat competition from other Premier League sides.
Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund)-
Gittens is another winger under serious consideration. The 20-year-old Englishman has been developing well in Germany and is on Chelsea’s radar as the club explores additional options out wide.
Nico Williams (Athletic Club)-
The Spanish international brings pace and directness down the flanks. Chelsea see him as an ideal fit for their attacking style and are monitoring his situation closely with several other clubs also interested.
Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt)-
Once targeted by PSG, Ekitike has rebuilt his form in the Bundesliga. Chelsea are watching the 21-year-old striker as a potential backup or future No. 9, depending on how other striker pursuits unfold.
Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig)-
Sesko has grown into one of Europe’s most promising forwards. Journalist Sam Tighe believes he’s ready for a step up to an elite club and while Arsenal have shown interest, Chelsea are also in the mix for the Slovenian attacker.
Jonathan David (Lille)-
The Canadian forward continues to deliver consistent numbers in France. Chelsea are tracking him as part of their contingency plans in the forward department.
Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton)-
Branthwaite has had a strong season at the back for Everton. Chelsea admire his physicality and aerial dominance and are considering him as a homegrown option in central defense.
Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)-
The former Chelsea academy product is being considered for a return. With leadership qualities and Premier League experience, Guehi could be a smart addition to a defense in need of maturity and structure.
Chelsea are expected to act quickly in the early June transfer window as they look to finalize deals before their Club World Cup opener on June 16. The owners are taking the competition seriously and want to give the manager a reinforced squad ahead of a busy summer.
