Lewis Ferguson has carved his name into Bologna’s history books by helping the club win the Coppa Italia for the first time in over five decades. The Scottish midfielder played a key role as Bologna edged past AC Milan in a tightly contested final at the Stadio Olimpico.
Dan Ndoye’s strike early in the second half proved to be the decisive moment in a tense clash against the seven-time European champions. Ferguson, who joined Bologna from Aberdeen, captained the side to a famous victory, bringing an end to the club’s 51-year wait for a major title.
His achievement makes him the first Scottish player to win the Coppa Italia since Graeme Souness lifted the trophy with Sampdoria in 1985. The triumph marks a new high in Ferguson’s career and further strengthens his growing reputation in Italian football.
