Gusau Takes Over as WAFU Zone B President After Okraku’s Exit
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has officially been named the new President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
This leadership change comes after Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, head of the Ghana Football Association, stepped down from the role following his election into CAF’s Executive Committee two months ago.
WAFU B’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, confirmed that Gusau was the popular choice among member nations, with many backing him to provide both stability and fresh energy to the sub-regional body.
Gusau, who became NFF President in September 2022, previously served as WAFU B First Vice President before taking on this top job.
His elevation comes just a day after Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, clinched bronze at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, securing a spot at the FIFA U20 World Cup in the process.
