Chelsea defender and Super Eagles-eligible star, Tosin Adarabioyo, has broken his silence on speculations surrounding his international future, firmly denying claims that he snubbed Nigeria or ever committed to playing for the Super Eagles.
In a post-match interview following Chelsea’s 4–1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Europa Conference League final, the former Fulham center-back dismissed recent reports as false.
> “Both of those pieces of news are pretty false. I’ve never turned down Nigeria. And I’ve never had any conversations with them to say that I’ll be going to Nigeria,” Adarabioyo said.
The 26-year-old revealed that during his final season at Fulham, there were brief talks regarding national team representation, but he made it clear he wanted to focus solely on his club football at the time.
> “At the point of last season where there was a little bit of conversation, I told them I just want to focus on club football. I was in my last year at Fulham and I just wanted to have a solid running at Fulham. Now I’m at Chelsea—my first year—which I wanted to concentrate on again.”
The English-born defender’s comments come amid increasing pressure from Nigerian fans and media, many of whom had hoped to see him don the green and white jersey.
Adarabioyo, who joined Chelsea ahead of the 2025/26 season, left the door slightly open for a future decision, hinting that the coming months may determine where his international future lies.
