Manchester United will part ways with ten players at the end of the current season following a poor campaign that saw the club miss out on European football and record its worst Premier League finish.
Among the senior players leaving are Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans. Eriksen scored in his final appearance during the club’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa, while Lindelof struggled for consistency throughout his time at Old Trafford after joining from Benfica in 2017. Evans, who won three league titles and a Champions League during his earlier spell with the club, will also exit.
Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is also set to leave but remains in discussions with the club over a possible contract extension.
The list of departures also includes academy players Hubert Graczyk, Jack Kingdon, Sam Murray, Tom Myles, James Nolan and Tom Wooster. In a statement, the club expressed pride in its young players and promised to assist them in securing new opportunities while offering long-term support.
This clear-out follows a turbulent season under manager Ruben Amorim, who took over mid-season but failed to turn the club’s fortunes around. United ended the season with a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and will not feature in any European competition next term.
Manchester United are already working on reinforcements. Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who had an impressive loan spell at Galatasaray, is a key target. He recently rejected an offer from Saudi side Al Hilal and is reportedly considering a move within Europe. The club has also completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and is pursuing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is said to be open to a transfer.
The upcoming transfer window is expected to be busy as United look to rebuild and bounce back stronger next season.
