Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles, also known as the Super Eagles B, are set to play their group stage matches in Zanzibar for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled from August 2 to 30, 2025.
According to reports the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday that Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous island region of Tanzania, will host Group D. This group includes Nigeria, reigning champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan.
The Super Eagles B secured their place in the competition after a hard-fought 3-1 aggregate win over Ghana in the final qualification round held in December 2024.
The 8th edition of CHAN is being jointly hosted by East African nations Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The tournament will also serve as a dry run for the trio’s co-hosting duties for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
CAF confirmed that the opening match will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Group C fixtures will unfold in Kampala, Uganda, while the final is slated for August 30 at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
Group B saw a recent shake-up following the disqualification of Equatorial Guinea by CAF’s Appeals Committee. Their exit allowed Congo to rejoin the tournament and take a place in Group D alongside Nigeria.

Nigeria last reached the final in 2018 and clinched bronze in 2014. The upcoming tournament offers another shot at CHAN glory for the West African giants.
