Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed he is open to representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the near future.
The 26-year-old made the comments in Philadelphia following Chelsea’s convincing 3-0 win over Tunisian side, Esperance de Tunis, in the FIFA Club World Cup. Adarabioyo, who opened the scoring for the Blues with a towering header just before halftime, addressed questions about his international future during the post-match press conference.
“That’s something we’re looking into,” he said in response to a question from a Nigerian journalist. “I’ve been asked that a few times now. It’s definitely a conversation worth having, so we’ll see how things go.”
Born in England to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo has previously represented England at youth level but remains eligible to play for Nigeria.
The center-back, who joined Chelsea after leaving Fulham, played a key role in their latest win, helping his side secure a place in the knockout rounds where they will face Benfica.
For now, Adarabioyo says his focus remains on Chelsea’s next match, but the possibility of donning Nigeria’s green and white jersey is clearly on his mind.
