Nigeria’s Super Falcons made a powerful start to their WAFCON 2024 journey, sweeping aside Tunisia 3-0 in a one-sided opener.
The African giants didn’t waste time announcing their intent. Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the perfect start, striking within minutes of kickoff to hand her side an early lead.
Rinsola Babajide, featuring in her first WAFCON match, added to the scoreboard in the 44th minute with a clinical finish that capped a dominant first-half performance from the Super Falcons.
Tunisia showed more structure after the break, slowing Nigeria’s momentum. But their resistance didn’t last. With just seven minutes left on the clock, Chinwendu Ihezuo buried the third goal to put the result beyond doubt.
Despite a few nervy moments late on, Nigeria’s defense stayed solid, shutting out any hopes of a Tunisian response and wrapping up the tie with a clean sheet.
The 3-0 win sends a clear message: the Super Falcons mean business.
