Fianally, Victor Boniface Makes Decision On His Future

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface has shut down rumours linking him with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, reaffirming his commitment to the German champions ahead of the new season.

Despite recent reports suggesting he could leave due to limited playing time and interest from other European clubs, the 24-year-old insists he remains fully focused on Leverkusen.

In a recent chat with Sport Bild, Boniface was firm: “I’m staying here. No doubt about it. I still have three years on my contract, and my goal is to win trophies with this team.”

The striker had been linked with a potential switch to Serie A giants AC Milan. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri had claimed that the Rossoneri had already initiated contact with Boniface’s camp, fuelling speculation of a summer transfer. Earlier in the year, Saudi side Al Nassr also reportedly considered a €60 million move for the Nigerian, although the deal never materialised.

Since then, his market value has been adjusted to around €30–40 million, according to Gazzetta, sparking fresh interest. But Boniface, who joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer in a €20.5 million move, isn’t distracted by the buzz.

“Even when things were tough last season, I had a discussion with Simon Rolfes and made it clear that I enjoy playing here. The Al Nassr deal fell through, and I wasn’t bothered. I love this place,” he said.

With a new era underway under coach Erik ten Hag, who replaces Xabi Alonso, Boniface says he’s eager to contribute to another title-winning campaign and impress in the Champions League.

His agent, Aneke Atta, echoed the same sentiment. “Victor is enjoying his break but still training. There’s a new coach and fresh dynamics, but it’s the same strong team. We’ve had no talks with any other club. Leverkusen remains the priority.”

Boniface is preparing for his third season with the club and appears more determined than ever to silence the noise around his future with action on the pitch.
