Manchester United have officially signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, ending a long-running transfer pursuit that began early in June. With that move settled, the club is now shifting attention to finding a new centre-forward.
Reports from multiple outlets suggest that United are actively searching for a striker who can bring energy and consistency to the attack. Before making another major move, the club may need to let go of a few players currently on the squad. Despite that, the push for a new forward continues to gain momentum.
Recent interest in Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres, both of whom are now expected to join other clubs, gives a glimpse into the type of player United want. These are fast and mobile strikers who can play as the main attacking threat while combining well with others.
Other names have also surfaced. Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig have all been mentioned. Each brings a different style, but all three share a strong work ethic and the ability to lead the line. Watkins makes smart runs and finishes well. Jackson adds speed and ball-carrying ability. Sesko offers power and movement, with room to grow into a top-tier striker.
The club’s current first-choice forward Rasmus Hojlund showed promise last season but struggled at times. He found it difficult to create space and often lacked the physical presence needed in tight situations. Although his finishing instinct is not in doubt, he did not get into dangerous positions often enough.
If United want someone more experienced and reliable, Watkins could be the safest option. If they are looking for long-term value and potential, Sesko fits that profile better. Jackson may require more time to improve his finishing, but his off-the-ball movement already puts him in good positions.
Beyond the main names, United might explore less obvious options. Georges Mikautadze from Lyon is a creative and active forward. Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart is tall and technical, while Marcus Thuram from Inter Milan offers strong ball-carrying and intelligent link-up play. Each brings something unique.
Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain is another name worth considering. Although not a regular starter at PSG, he has one of the best scoring rates in France and consistently finds space in the box. His ability to convert chances would give United an edge in tight matches.
Another possibility is Randal Kolo Muani, also from PSG. He had an outstanding season with Frankfurt before joining the French champions. His combination of pace, strength, and creativity could make him a great fit in a team that needs more fluidity in the final third.
Yoane Wissa of Brentford may not be a top candidate, but his on-pitch understanding with Mbeumo could be a useful asset. Together they formed one of the most productive partnerships in the Premier League last season, which could be something United look to replicate.
Whatever direction United take, the message is clear. They are not just looking for a name. They want a striker who fits their evolving style and can lead the team into the new season with confidence and impact.
