President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted the Super Falcons of Nigeria at an official state reception in Abuja, following their historic triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The ceremony at the Presidential Villa came shortly after a vibrant trophy parade through the streets of Abuja, where thousands of fans celebrated the team’s record-extending 10th continental title.
Led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, the Super Falcons presented the WAFCON trophy to President Tinubu, who praised their discipline, determination, and commitment to excellence.
In recognition of their achievement, the President announced national honours for each team member, along with a gift of three-bedroom apartments and a cash reward of \$100,000 each.
Ajibade, in her remarks, thanked the federal government, the National Sports Commission, and Nigerians for their steadfast support throughout the tournament.
The event was attended by top government officials, sports administrators, members of the diplomatic corps, and stakeholders from the football community. It also featured commendations and awards for the technical crew, as the nation celebrated its most successful women’s football team.
