A striking mural of former Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has been completed near Anfield just weeks after his tragic death in a car crash.
Painted on the side of a house on Sybil Road, the “Forever 20” artwork created by street art collective MurWalls features Jota in his iconic red Liverpool kit with his back turned, forming a heart with his hands. His No. 20 shirt stands out against a black background now filled with heartfelt messages from fans.
The mural has drawn large crowds, with supporters lining up to write personal tributes using brightly colored markers.
MurWalls artist Mark Silver said the final addition, a gold Premier League champions badge, was included to honor what Jota would have worn this season as a title winner.
“It was heartbreaking that he never got the chance to wear the gold badge,” Silver said. “So we decided to add it to the mural as a symbol of the champion he was.”
Jota, 28, and his younger brother André Silva, 25, died in a car crash in Spain in July. The Liverpool forward had been a beloved figure at the club, known for his passion, goals, and strong connection with the fans.
The Sybil Road mural is one of several tributes that have sprung up around Anfield, with artwork and memorials capturing the deep impact Jota had during his time on Merseyside.
