Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have officially ended their relationship with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho after only a single season at the helm.
The announcement came on Friday through a statement shared on the club’s official X page, confirming the departure of the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid boss.
“Jose Mourinho, who has been leading our professional football team since the 2024–2025 season, is no longer with us. We express our gratitude for his contributions and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career,” the club wrote.
Mourinho, now 62, was appointed in June 2024 amid huge expectations, with Fenerbahce fans hopeful he could deliver both domestic dominance and European success. However, his tenure proved to be underwhelming as inconsistent results in the Turkish Super Lig and on the continental stage left the board with little choice but to part ways earlier than anticipated.
The veteran coach, who has lifted league titles in England, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, had hoped to add Turkey to his glittering résumé. Instead, his spell has ended abruptly, leaving questions about where his storied managerial career will take him next.
The club’s decision has already sparked intense debate among supporters and pundits alike, with many pointing to the team’s erratic performances as the key reason for the separation.
