Chelsea were disgraced at home at Stamford Bridge in matchday 6 of the Premier League 2025/2026 season.
The Blues began well in the contest, winning the first half courtesy of Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the 24th minute.
Chelsea’s fortunes changed in the second half after Trevoh Chalobah was shown a red card for a reckless challenge.
Brighton capitalized on the advantage with substitute Danny Welbeck equalizing for Brighton in the 77th minute.
The visitors wouldn’t settle for less, as two late goals from De Cuyper and Danny Welbeck put the game beyond Chelsea, who were reckless in the second half.
The loss sent Chelsea down the pecking order to 7th position with 8 points, while Brighton moved to 10th with the same 8 points.
Chelsea will look to work on their discipline after two red cards in back-to-back games, which will be a big concern for Enzo Maresca.
