Paris Saint-Germain pulled off a stunning comeback at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, snatching all three points from Barcelona with a last-gasp winner from Gonçalo Ramos.
The reigning European champions looked headed for a draw until the Portuguese striker, introduced late in the game, latched onto an Achraf Hakimi pass in stoppage time and calmly slotted past Wojciech Szczęsny to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory.
Barcelona had taken the lead in the 18th minute, with Ferran Torres finishing a flowing move initiated by teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal. His involvement not only created the opener but also etched his name further into history: Yamal became the youngest player to reach 24 Champions League appearances, surpassing Warren Zaïre-Emery’s record of 23 before the age of 19.
PSG responded before halftime through 19-year-old Senny Mayulu, who collected Nuno Mendes’ pass on the edge of the box and chipped Szczęsny for his first goal of the new campaign.
The second half was tense, with both sides creating chances, but Barcelona’s high defensive line eventually cost them. Ramos exploited the space, leaving the home side stunned and PSG celebrating a second straight group-stage win as they continue their push to retain the Champions League crown.
Match Notes:
- Barcelona’s opener extended their scoring streak to 45 consecutive matches in all competitions, breaking a club record set during the 1940s.
- Five teenagers started across both line-ups, marking just the seventh time this has happened since the competition was rebranded in 1992.
