Premier League football returns this weekend with another full round of fixtures, and the Opta supercomputer has once again crunched the numbers to deliver predictions for Matchday 7 of the 2025-26 campaign. With teams balancing domestic ambitions and midweek European commitments, this weekend could provide twists at both ends of the table.
Liverpool’s perfect run came to an end against Crystal Palace last weekend, leaving Arsenal and Manchester City in hot pursuit, while pressure is mounting on Ruben Amorim at Manchester United and Enzo Maresca at Chelsea after disappointing results. Matchday 7 promises drama, with action spread across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before the international break.
Friday 3 October
The round kicks off at the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth host Fulham. The supercomputer gives Bournemouth a slight edge at 50.6 percent, thanks to a strong home record and Antoine Semenyo’s goalscoring form. Fulham, who have lost their last three top-flight visits to the Cherries, are given just a 24.4 percent chance of victory, with a draw rated at 25 percent.
Saturday 4 October
The early kick-off sees Leeds United face Tottenham at Elland Road. Spurs are narrow favorites at 43.5 percent despite their recent habit of leaving it late, while Leeds are rated at 31.3 percent. Leeds have not lost a home league game in over a year, a run spanning 23 matches, while Spurs have never won three consecutive league games at Elland Road.
At 3pm, two major fixtures take center stage. Manchester United, under-pressure manager Ruben Amorim, welcome Sunderland. Amorim is marking his 50th game in charge, but history suggests trouble-none of United’s last five bosses won their 50th match. Still, the supercomputer makes United favorites with a 59.7 percent chance, while Sunderland sit at 19.2 percent. United are chasing a third straight home win for the first time since 2023, but Sunderland have made the strongest start by a promoted team since West Ham in 2012.
In London, Arsenal host West Ham with the Gunners the supercomputer’s most confident pick of the weekend at 76.7 percent. West Ham, who earned a point under Nuno Espírito Santo in his first game in charge, are given only a 9.4 percent chance. Arsenal have lost just four of their last 42 league home games, but two of those came against the Hammers. The Gunners’ set-piece strength could be decisive, with nine of their last 14 league goals coming from dead-ball situations.
The day concludes with a heavyweight clash at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea face Liverpool. Despite consecutive defeats in Europe and the league, Liverpool are slight favorites at 42.3 percent. Chelsea, who have lost back-to-back league games under Maresca, are given a 32.3 percent chance. Discipline may be key; Chelsea have had players sent off in consecutive league games and another in midweek.
Sunday 5 October
The action continues with three early games. Crystal Palace travel to Everton, looking to extend their unbeaten start. Palace are rated at 42.3 percent to Everton’s 33.1 percent, with the draw the most likely outcome at 25.5 percent. Palace could set a new club record by going 13 games unbeaten in the top flight.
Newcastle host Nottingham Forest in a battle of struggling sides. The Magpies are given a 56 percent chance of victory after their midweek Champions League win, while Forest are just 21.3 percent. Ange Postecoglou is seeking his first win as Forest manager, but history is against him.
Elsewhere, Wolves search for their first win of the season at home to Brighton. The Seagulls are clear favorites at 49.1 percent, with Wolves at 27.1 percent. Wolves risk starting back-to-back seasons with four straight home defeats, something never seen before in the Premier League. Brighton, meanwhile, have won on their last four visits to Molineux.
Aston Villa take on Burnley in Birmingham, with the home side heavily favored at 68.4 percent. Burnley, struggling defensively, are given just 14.1 percent. Villa are unbeaten in 16 league games against promoted sides, while Burnley have already conceded 13 goals in six matches.
The weekend closes with Brentford against Manchester City. The Bees, who shocked United last weekend, are hoping to add another Manchester scalp. The supercomputer gives City the edge at 48.9 percent to Brentford’s 27.4 percent. Pep Guardiola is chasing his 250th Premier League win, and Phil Foden, who has scored seven goals against Brentford, could be decisive.
Matchday 7 is set to be a fascinating round with plenty on the line. From Amorim’s milestone at Old Trafford to the showdown at Stamford Bridge and City’s trip to Brentford, the supercomputer suggests favorites but leaves room for the unpredictability that makes the Premier League unmissable.
