Four prominent Nigerian football administrators have secured notable positions on key FIFA standing committees.
President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has been appointed to the FIFA Men’s Club Competitions Committee, the body responsible for overseeing the structure and governance of international club tournaments.
Gusau, who succeeded Amaju Pinnick as NFF President in October 2022, joins other Nigerians who have also earned recognition from the world football governing body.
Aisha Falode has been named to the FIFA Media and Communications Committee, while Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN, has taken up a role on the FIFA Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee.
Meanwhile, former NFF President Amaju Pinnick has been reappointed as Deputy Chair of the FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee.
In his reaction, Pinnick congratulated the newly appointed officials, saying, “I wholeheartedly congratulate President Gusau, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN, and Aisha Falode on their well-deserved appointments.”
The Executive Chairman of Galaxy Sports Development China also extended his congratulations to all four appointees, describing their recognition by FIFA as a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence in global football administration. He praised their dedication, professionalism, and consistent contributions to the development of the game, urging them to use their new positions to project Nigeria’s image positively and foster stronger international collaborations within FIFA.
He added that their appointments would inspire young Nigerian sports administrators to aim for excellence and global relevance, emphasizing that such achievements reflect the nation’s potential to produce world-class leaders in football governance.
