Nottingham Forest have dismissed head coach Ange Postecoglou following a damaging 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea this afternoon.
The club confirmed the decision to relieve Postecoglou of his duties in the immediate aftermath of the loss, which leaves Forest hovering just above the relegation zone.
The Australian manager’s tenure at the City Ground lasted a mere 39 days and just eight games across all competitions, making it the shortest managerial spell in Premier League history. Postecoglou, who was appointed on September 9, 2025, to replace the sacked Nuno Espírito Santo, failed to register a single victory, with a record of two draws and six losses.
Postecoglou, who won the Europa League with Tottenham Hotspur last season, had been defiant in his pre-match press conference, stating that his “story always ends with a trophy.” However, the crushing defeat to Chelsea proved to be the final straw for owner Evangelos Marinakis.
The club is now expected to begin the search for their third head coach of the 2025-26 Premier League season.
