Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has stirred conversation online after sharing a cryptic message believed to be directed at Victor Osimhen.
The post comes shortly after Nigeria’s 4–0 victory over Benin Republic in a 2026 World Cup qualifier, a game that saw visible tension among players, including heated exchanges between Nwabali, Wilfred Ndidi, and Calvin Bassey.
Despite Osimhen’s brilliant hat-trick that sealed Nigeria’s spot in the playoffs, fans couldn’t overlook Nwabali’s emotional outbursts on the pitch. His behavior drew attention, particularly after a few shaky moments in the earlier 2–1 win over Lesotho, where he was heavily criticized by supporters calling for his replacement.
However, head coach Eric Chelle stood by the Chippa United shot-stopper, starting him once again. During the Benin clash, cameras caught Nwabali pushing Ndidi away after the midfielder tried to calm him down. Later, he was seen in a heated argument with Bassey as the team walked off at halftime.
Following the match, Nwabali took to Instagram with a post that hinted at his mindset:
“I never fake care for anyone. What I give, I give from my heart. Choose a good heart. People change so fast… I believe you, VO9.”
While he didn’t mention names directly, fans quickly connected “VO9” to Osimhen, interpreting the message as both support and a subtle response to the recent drama.
Nigeria will now shift focus to the upcoming World Cup playoffs as the Super Eagles look to book their ticket to the 2026 tournament.
