Victor Osimhen delivered another scintillating performance on Wednesday night, bagging a decisive brace to spearhead Galatasaray’s commanding 3-1 victory over Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). The win at RamsPark secured back-to-back European successes for the Turkish side, marking a significant upturn in form after they had won just one of their previous 18 main-draw matches.
The Nigerian striker wasted no time asserting his dominance, sending the already vociferous home crowd into raptures just three minutes into the match. Osimhen converted a clinical finish after Mario Lemina slid the ball through the Bodø/Glimt defence to open the scoring.
His second goal arrived in the 33rd minute, courtesy of his relentless pressure. Osimhen pounced on the gift of a lax backpass from Fredrik André Bjørkan, rounding goalkeeper Nikita Haikin and sliding the ball into the empty net. The striker was a constant threat, also setting up Yunus Akgün’s goal later in the second half by dispossessing Haitam Aleesami on the edge of the box.
Bodø/Glimt, the Norwegian side, struggled against the Nigerian’s intensity and eventually succumbed, despite a late consolation goal from Andreas Helmersen in the 76th minute. The result ended the visitors’ five-game unbeaten run in European league phase matches, leaving them on two points.
This latest double continues Osimhen’s hot streak following a dominant showing for his national side. Just last week, the prolific striker netted a hat-trick for the Super Eagles, powering Nigeria to a crucial 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in their final 2026 World Cup qualifier, which secured their passage into the inter-confederation playoffs.
The victory over Bodø/Glimt sees Galatasaray continue their emphatic response to their heavy defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on the opening day of the UCL league phase. It also marks the Turkish giants’ 21st win from their last 23 matches across all competitions, with Osimhen firmly established as the focal point of their blistering attack.
