The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will begin their preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs on Sunday, November 9, in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria will take on Gabon in the semi-final playoff clash scheduled for November 13, while the winner will face either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final set for November 16. Both matches are expected to be staged at either the El-Barid Stadium or the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat. An official draw will decide which venue hosts each encounter.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau assured fans that the federation is putting every measure in place to ensure the Super Eagles are fully prepared. He expressed optimism that the team will rise to the occasion and secure a spot in the next stage of qualification.
The Super Eagles qualified for the playoffs after finishing among the best second-placed teams in the African qualifiers. They will now battle for the single African ticket to the intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2026 in Mexico.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Nine African nations have already secured direct qualification, with one additional slot reserved for the winner of the continental playoffs.
