The Super Eagles have resumed full training in Rabat, Morocco, after reaching an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation over unpaid bonuses that had disrupted their World Cup playoff preparations. The team, led by head coach Eric Chelle, had boycotted their Tuesday training session in protest of outstanding entitlements. However, according to team media officer Promise Efoghe, the matter has now been settled.“Issues resolved. Super Eagles to train at 5 p.m.,” Efoghe confirmed in a message to journalists on Wednesday.Reports from Morocco indicate that the standoff prompted a late-night negotiation involving the players, NFF officials, and representatives of the National Sports Commission. The discussions eventually led to a compromise, allowing the team to focus on Thursday’s semi-final clash against Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs.During the earlier part of the camp, 16 players had reported, but only 14 participated in the recovery session, with Sevilla duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke sitting out. The boycott on Tuesday drew public attention after a joint statement released by the players confirmed they had halted training over “unresolved payment issues.”NFF President Ibrahim Gusau later explained that the federation had already cleared previous obligations after the AFCON and that the current issue was linked to ongoing qualifiers.“It’s not true that we owe for 30 matches,” Gusau said. “We had an agreement with the players and have been paying their appearance fees through the National Sports Commission. What remains concerns the qualifiers currently being played.”The Super Eagles are set to take on Gabon at the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay Al Hassan in Rabat on Thursday at 5 p.m., as they continue their push toward qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
