Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says Nigeria will need a sharper, more disciplined performance on Sunday if they want to overcome the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff series.
Nigeria cruised past Gabon with a 4-1 victory in Thursday’s semi-final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, but Chelle insists the job is far from finished. The final will be played at the same venue.
DR Congo booked their place after a tight 1-0 win over Cameroon, setting up a decisive clash with the Super Eagles.
Speaking after the semifinal win, Chelle stressed that his team must tidy up the errors they showed against Gabon.
“We did many things well against Gabon, but we also made mistakes. We have to fix those issues before the next match. Still, I trust my players and the effort they put in,” Chelle told reporters.
The final showdown between Nigeria and the Leopards is set to determine who claims the final World Cup ticket from the African playoffs.
