Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has revealed that Victor Osimhen is set for a two-week rehabilitation programme as the club works to get him ready for the December 1 derby against Fenerbahçe.
Osimhen picked up an injury during Nigeria’s tense 2026 World Cup play-off tie with DR Congo, leaving the game in the first half and immediately raising alarm for both the Super Eagles and his Turkish club.
Speaking on HT Spor, Özbek assured supporters that the injury is being handled quickly and carefully.
He explained that the forward’s scans showed a muscle strain with minor bleeding, and the club’s medical staff at Acıbadem International Hospital in Istanbul have already placed him on an intensive treatment plan.
“Our target is to have Osimhen available for the Fenerbahçe match,” Özbek said. “The medical team is pushing hard to meet that timeline.”
Osimhen’s early exit from Nigeria’s play-off significantly reduced the team’s attacking punch, highlighting his importance to both sides.
George Gardi, the representative who managed Osimhen’s switch from Napoli to Galatasaray, also noted that the striker is fully settled in Istanbul despite interest from top European clubs, including Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently after a successful loan spell in 2024/25, helping the club secure a domestic double. He has continued that form this season, scoring nine goals in 12 appearances in all competitions, including six Champions League goals in three matches.
