Eberechi Eze was the undisputed star of the North London Derby, scoring a brilliant hat-trick as Arsenal completely outclassed Tottenham Hotspur on their way to a 4-1 Premier League humiliation. The comprehensive victory extends the Gunners’ longest winning streak in North London derbies this century to four matches and sends them six points clear at the top of the PL table.
The Eze Goal Rush Sets Records
Eze was central to the attack from the start, setting up the game’s first major opportunity for Declan Rice, whose volley was blocked early on. After the opening goal from Leandro Trossard—a shot deflected past Vicario by Micky van de Ven—Eze took over the scoring duties.
He netted his first goal just five minutes after Trossard by working space in the box and hitting a deflected shot past Guglielmo Vicario. He then delivered a devastating blow just 40 seconds after the restart, collecting Jurriën Timber’s pass and picking out the bottom corner with a pinpoint finish. Eze completed his hat-trick after collecting Trossard’s pass, effortlessly sitting down Destiny Udogie before finishing to seal the 4-1 rout. He became the first player to score hat-trick in North London derby since 1978 and the first in premier League history.
Spurs’ Solitary Reply and Fallout
Tottenham’s day was miserable, with their only moment of success coming when Richarlison scored an outrageous strike from range for their first shot of the entire match.
The day belonged entirely to Arsenal, who stretched their unbeaten run across all competitions to 15 consecutive matches. In contrast, the defeat compounds Spurs’ poor run of form, having won just one of their last five competitive fixtures, which leaves them ninth for now. Further frustration hit the visitors as Cristian Romero received a booking for dissent, ruling him out of the upcoming match against Fulham.
Arsenal Faces Critical Run of Fixtures
The derby victory gives Arsenal immense momentum as they head into a crucial period spanning into different competitions. The upcoming matches for the Gunners are: a UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, November 26; a Premier League derby away to Chelsea on Sunday, November 30; and a home league fixture against Brentford on Wednesday, December 3rd.
