Matchday 15 of the Nigeria Premier Football League produced another round of tight scorelines, late twists, and major movement across both ends of the table.
One of the weekend’s headline results came in Aba, where Enyimba battled to a 2–1 victory over Rangers in a fiercely contested Oriental derby. The win did not immediately lift the People’s Elephant into the top half, but it slowed Rangers’ title chase and further compressed an already crowded mid-table.
At the top, Ikorodu City continued their remarkable rise by moving joint-first with Nasarawa United on 27 points, taking the lead on superior goal difference. The Lagos side defeated Abia Warriors 1–0, while Nasarawa United fell 1–0 away to resurgent Warri Wolves.
Enyimba hold off Rangers in Aba
Enyimba secured their fifth win of the season through Chidera Michael’s sharp 42nd-minute finish and Stanley Dimgba’s composed strike nine minutes from time. Rangers responded late as Kenechukwu Agu pulled one back deep into stoppage time, but the comeback attempt fell short.
The result pushes Enyimba to ninth on 20 points and keeps them within touching distance of the tightly packed mid-table, where seven clubs are separated by just three points.
Ikorodu City edge Abia Warriors to go top
Ikorodu City maintained their impressive momentum with a well-managed 1–0 win over Abia Warriors, courtesy of Chidera Oparaocha’s 69th-minute goal.
Their rise to the top spot highlights one of the league’s most organised and disciplined units this season.
Nasarawa United, meanwhile, missed the chance to pull clear as Othuke Egbo’s fifth-minute strike handed Warri Wolves all three points. Wolves now sit on 18 points, easing some of the pressure in the lower half of the table.
Bayelsa United and Katsina United share the points
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United and Katsina United settled for a 1–1 draw. Ifeanyi Ogba converted an early seventh-minute penalty for the hosts before Azeez Falolu levelled in the 36th minute.
Katsina remain locked on 20 points in the increasingly congested midfield pack, while Bayelsa continue to battle to stay above the relegation zone.
Kun Khalifai continue impressive rise as Plateau falter
NPFL newcomers Kun Khalifai FC extended their positive run with a commanding 2–0 win over Plateau United. Lekan Gabriel struck moments after the restart before Henry Ezeonye added a 70th-minute penalty.
Plateau United’s inconsistent form keeps them outside the leading contenders.
3SC tighten grip in top-four race
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars strengthened their top-four ambitions with a 1–0 victory over El-Kanemi, sealed by Ismail Ayodele’s 29th-minute goal.
