The English Premier League’s Matchday 14 kicked off a hectic December schedule with a flurry of goals and some significant upsets, most notably a nine-goal classic at Craven Cottage and a stunning defeat for Chelsea.
Here is the round-up of the key results from the mid-week fixtures played on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 2nd and 3rd, 2025:
Goal-Fest at Craven Cottage

The most dramatic match saw Manchester City narrowly escape with a 5-4 victory over a resilient Fulham side on Tuesday.
Erling Haaland made history, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals, achieving the milestone in just 111 games.
Phil Foden starred with a brace, leading City to a seemingly comfortable 5-1 lead.
However, Fulham staged a heroic comeback with goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi and a quick-fire double from substitute Samuel Chukwueze, bringing the score to 5-4 and ensuring a nerve-wracking finish for the champions.
Title Race Leaders Extend Advantage

Arsenal maintained their grip on the top spot with a professional 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gunners’ goals came from in-form midfielder Mikel Merino, who scored the opener with a header, and a late strike from Bukayo Saka. The win extended Arsenal’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 18 matches and moved them five points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the table.
Major Upsets Shake Top Four
The mid-week fixtures proved costly for some of the household names, as they suffered surprise defeats:

Leeds United 3-1 Chelsea: In a physical and intense battle, Leeds United secured a massive upset victory over Chelsea at Elland Road. Goals from Bijol and Ao Tanaka before halftime set the tone, and despite a second-half rally, the three points went to Leeds, who climbed out of the relegation zone. Chelsea’s title credentials took a hit, with the team struggling without the suspended Moisés Caicedo.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3-4 Aston Villa: A seven-goal thriller at the Amex Stadium saw Aston Villa edge out a narrow win, solidifying their position in the Champions League places. The match was a high-octane affair with goals flowing freely on both sides.
Other Notable Results

Newcastle United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur: In a late dramatic finish, Tottenham salvaged a draw at St James’ Park. Defender Cristian Romero scored a brace for Spurs, including a crucial equalizer in the fifth minute of stoppage time, denying Newcastle a much-needed home win.

Bournemouth 0-1 Everton: A solitary goal from Jack Grealish was enough for Everton to secure a vital away win at Bournemouth, boosting their mid-table standing.

Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland: Liverpool continued their indifferent form, only managing a draw against a determined Sunderland side.
The intense December schedule continues with more action over the coming weekend, as teams battle for crucial points before the festive period.
