Nigeria’s Super Falcons have moved down slightly in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Thursday, dropping from 36th in the world to 37th. The new ranking reflects the outcome of the most recent international window in which the Nigerian team did not take part in any competitive or friendly matches. Their absence from action contributed to the shift in their global standing.
Even with the minor slip, the Super Falcons continue to dominate the African continent. Justine Madugu’s team remains the highest ranked women’s national side in Africa, holding a comfortable lead over their continental rivals. South Africa follow closely behind in second place on the continent, while Ghana, Zambia and Morocco complete Africa’s top five.
On the global scene, Spain maintain their position as the best ranked women’s team in the world. The United States hold the second spot, while Germany, England and Sweden occupy the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. These rankings reflect current performance trends across women’s football and highlight the level of competition at the top of the game.
The next update to the FIFA Women’s World Ranking will provide another opportunity for the Super Falcons to improve their global placement, especially if they return to active competition and secure favorable results.
