The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has cautioned referees and other match officials nationwide, warning that sanctions will follow any continued lapses in officiating standards.
The federation disclosed that decisive steps are being prepared to address the growing number of disputed calls and questionable judgments recorded in local competitions.
This position was made known after a meeting of the NFF Executive Committee in Abuja.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation, there is widespread dissatisfaction with the conduct of referees across the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), and Nationwide League One (NLO).
The football body revealed plans to roll out tougher disciplinary measures, compulsory retraining, and enhanced supervision as part of efforts to protect the integrity and credibility of Nigerian football.
โWe will not tolerate incompetence, conspiracy, or any form of manipulation that brings our competitions into disrepute,โ the federation stated.
It further warned that officials found guilty of compromising matches would face firm and immediate punishment, stressing that stricter controls would soon be enforced.
