World football’s governing body, FIFA, has officially unveiled the prize money structure for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with a total payout of $727 million confirmed.
Out of this amount, $655 million will be distributed among the 48 countries taking part in the expanded tournament.
The eventual champions will pocket $50 million, marking the highest prize ever awarded to a World Cup winner. The runners-up will go home with $33 million.
Teams finishing third and fourth will earn $29 million and $27 million respectively, while sides placed between fifth and eighth will receive $19 million each.
Countries knocked out at the round of 16 stage are set to collect $15 million, and those eliminated during the group phase will be paid $9 million.
In addition, every nation that qualifies for the tournament will receive $1.5 million from FIFA to help offset preparation and logistics costs.
