The Super Eagles have opened talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over an improved bonus structure ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Reports indicate that the national team players are not satisfied with the financial terms currently placed on the table by the NFF and have asked for a more rewarding package tied to their performance at the tournament.
According to information from SCORENigeria, the federation has suggested a progressive bonus arrangement, where playersโ earnings increase as they advance through the various stages of the competition. However, members of the squad are pushing for higher figures across the board.
The players believe their demands are justified following the recent upward review of prize money by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). CAF announced last weekend that the champions of AFCON 2025 will now earn $10 million, a significant increase from previous editions.
At the 2023 tournament hosted by Cรดte dโIvoire, the Elephants pocketed $7 million after lifting the trophy. Nigeria, who finished second, received $4 million for their runners-up finish.
With the new prize structure in place, the Super Eagles feel a larger share should be reflected in their bonus agreement with the NFF as they prepare to challenge for continental glory in Morocco.
