Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has admitted that his team still has key areas to fix as Nigeria prepares to face Tunisia in their next Africa Cup of Nations clash this weekend.
Chelle spoke after Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Tanzania in their Group C opener on Tuesday in Morocco.
Goals from defender Semi Ajayi and winger Ademola Lookman earned the Super Eagles all three points against Miguel Ángel Gamond’s side, but the coach was not completely satisfied with the performance.
According to Chelle, Nigeria must learn how to properly finish off games and avoid unnecessary pressure late on.
He said the second half against Tanzania exposed lapses that must be corrected quickly, especially in managing matches once the team is ahead.
Chelle stressed that the coaching crew is aware of the issue and will work on it before the Tunisia encounter.
After the opening round of matches, Nigeria sits second in Group C, while Tunisia tops the table following their 3-1 win over Uganda.
The Super Eagles will be aiming for a stronger and more controlled display when they face the North Africans in their next group game.
