Matchday 19 of the Nigeria Premier Football League delivered a refreshing twist, as visiting sides stood tall across different centres, recording impressive results away from home and underlining the league’s growing competitiveness.
One of the standout results came at the New Jos Stadium, where Abia Warriors claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Plateau United. The contest was evenly balanced for long spells, but Taheer Abubakar broke the deadlock in the 68th minute with a well-taken finish that proved enough to secure all three points for the Umuahia-based club.
In Owerri, Katsina United also enjoyed a memorable afternoon, edging Kun Khalifat 1–0 to record their first away win of the season. Richard Christopher’s 36th-minute strike separated both sides in a tense encounter, as the visitors showed discipline and resilience to protect their lead until the final whistle.
Another away success was recorded at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, where El-Kanemi Warriors stunned Bayelsa United with a 1–0 win. Sadiq Mohammed struck at a crucial moment, scoring in first-half stoppage time to hand the Maiduguri side a valuable victory on the road.
Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes made full use of home advantage with a comfortable 2–0 win over Barau FC, while Enyimba continued their strong form with a dominant 3–0 victory against Shooting Stars in Aba. Kano Pillars were also convincing at the Sani Abacha Stadium, thrashing Nasarawa United 3–0 in front of their fans.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Rivers United secured a hard-fought 1–0 win over defending champions Rangers, while Wolves and Wikki Tourists shared the spoils in an entertaining 2–2 draw.
