Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked fresh speculation about a possible return to European football after suggesting his future may not be limited to the Middle East.
The Al-Nassr attacker is still delivering at the highest level in Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, the Portuguese icon scored twice in a convincing 3–0 victory over Al Akhdoud, pushing his career goal count to 956 as he edges closer to the historic 1,000-goal mark.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, enjoyed glittering spells in Europe with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Sporting Lisbon before moving to the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking at an awards ceremony in Dubai on Sunday, the 40-year-old made it clear that his ambitions remain unchanged, regardless of where he plays.
“It doesn’t really matter whether I’m in Europe or the Middle East,” Ronaldo said. “What matters is continuing to win trophies and reaching the milestone everyone already knows about.”
His comments have now reignited debate over whether the former Real Madrid star could yet make an unexpected return to European football before calling time on his legendary career.
