Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen did not take part in Nigeria’s training session held on New Year’s Day, alongside two other members of the squad.
Also missing from the closed-door workout were Cyriel Dessers and Ryan Alebiosu as Nigeria continued preparations for their Round of 16 clash against Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Mozambique on Monday, with head coach Eric Chelle keeping Thursday’s session away from public view.
While all three players were absent, the reasons differ. Dessers and Alebiosu are currently nursing injuries and are considered major doubts for the encounter.
Osimhen, however, is not believed to be injured. The striker is said to have been given time off as the technical crew carefully manage his workload ahead of the knockout fixture.
Nigeria will be hoping to have as many options available as possible as they target a place in the AFCON quarterfinals.
