Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has singled out Raphael Onyedika as Nigeria’s most underappreciated performer at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Speaking after Nigeria’s recent outing, Osimhen praised the Club Brugge midfielder for his consistency and influence in Eric Chelle’s squad, insisting that his impact often goes unnoticed despite his importance to the team.
According to the Napoli striker, Onyedika’s all round display capped by his two goal showing against Uganda perfectly illustrates why he deserves more recognition.
“Raphael has been outstanding for us,” Osimhen said, in comments reported by Flashscore. “He does so much for the team, but he rarely gets the attention he merits. What he did against Uganda shows the quality he has.”
Osimhen added that the midfielder’s balance intelligence on the ball and work rate have been crucial to Nigeria’s progress so far in the tournament.
Onyedika is expected to play another vital role when the Super Eagles face Mozambique in the Round of 16 on Monday as Nigeria continue their push for continental glory.
