The Nigeria Premier Football League has officially announced that the second stanza of the 2025–26 season will commence on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
According to the league body, the restart will begin with midweek fixtures to be played across all approved NPFL centres nationwide. The arrangement is aimed at ensuring the league stays on schedule following the conclusion of the first round of matches.
The NPFL disclosed the resumption date in a formal circular sent to all participating clubs. Teams have also been advised to prepare for a demanding calendar in the second half of the season, with fixture congestion expected due to the tight scheduling.
At the end of the first stanza, Rivers United sit at the top of the NPFL standings with 37 points from 19 matches, placing them in a strong position heading into the second half of the campaign.
