The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Somali match official Omar Artan to take charge of the AFCON 2025 quarter-final encounter between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Algeria.
Artan is among the referees chosen for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and is widely viewed as one of the continent’s most highly rated officials.
Nigeria and Algeria are set to face off on Saturday at the Stade de Marrakech. The fixture brings back memories of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, a contest Algeria won 2–1.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm Nigerian time.
