Ademola Lookman has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles are fully prepared for their quarter-final showdown with Algeria at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Nigeria will face the Desert Foxes on Saturday in Marrakech, in what promises to be one of the toughest fixtures of the tournament so far.
The clash brings back memories of the 2019 AFCON semi-final, where Algeria edged Nigeria 2–1, sealed by a dramatic late free-kick from Riyad Mahrez.
Both teams head into the encounter in strong form. The Super Eagles cruised through the group stage with a perfect record, while Algeria have also remained unbeaten in the competition.
The North Africans boast an equally impressive defensive record, having not conceded a single goal in four matches.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Lookman said the squad is embracing the challenge.
“The quarter-final stage is always something special,” he told CAFonline. “We know a big test is ahead of us, and as a team, we have to make sure we’re fully ready for it.”
