Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has sent an appreciative message to Nigeria’s fans across the world following the team’s 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen was on target during the encounter, while Akor Adams also found the net, as Nigeria secured qualification for the semi-finals. The win confirmed the Super Eagles’ place among the last four teams still competing for continental glory.
In a video shared on X shortly after the final whistle, the Napoli-born forward thanked supporters for their unwavering backing and acknowledged the tough challenge posed by the Algerians. Osimhen described the match as demanding, but praised the collective effort that earned the team a deserved result.
The Galatasaray striker also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s chances going forward, stating his belief that the squad, under the guidance of Eric Chelle, can push on and compete for the title in the days ahead.
Osimhen added that the team intends to build on the momentum from the quarter-final success, with the ultimate aim of reaching the final and lifting the AFCON trophy.
With four goals to his name so far in the competition, Osimhen now trails tournament top scorer Brahim Díaz by just one goal, further underlining his importance to Nigeria’s title ambitions.
