The prize money to be earned by Barcelona and Real Madrid following the conclusion of this year’s Spanish Super Cup has been officially revealed.
Barcelona claimed the trophy on Sunday night after edging their arch-rivals 3–2 in a pulsating final staged in Jeddah. The contest delivered high drama, quality football and late tension, once again underlining the fierce rivalry between the two Spanish giants on the global stage.
The Catalans were inspired by a superb performance from Raphinha, who netted twice to tilt the balance in Barcelona’s favour. Robert Lewandowski also got on the scoresheet, capping off a strong attacking display from Hansi Flick’s side. Real Madrid responded with determination and pushed hard in the closing stages, but Barcelona held firm to see out the victory.
According to reports from AS, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will reward Barcelona with €2 million for lifting the Super Cup. The financial boost reflects the federation’s revised prize structure for the tournament, which has grown in profile since being moved outside Spain.
Real Madrid, despite finishing as runners-up, will not leave empty-handed. The Los Blancos are set to receive €1.4 million for their run to the final, adding to their season’s earnings as they continue to compete on multiple fronts.
With the Super Cup now concluded, both teams will return to Spain and shift focus back to domestic duties. Attention will immediately turn to the league campaign, where the title race is beginning to take shape.
Barcelona currently sit top of the LaLiga table, holding a four-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid. With plenty of matches still to be played, the gap remains bridgeable, setting the stage for another intense battle between the two rivals as the season progresses.
