Nasarawa United produced one of the standout results of the weekend in the Nigeria Professional Football League after coming from behind to defeat Abia Warriors 2–1 in Umuahia on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The hosts took the lead late in the first half when Emeka Obioma found the net in the 42nd minute, sending Abia Warriors into the break in front. However, Nasarawa United showed resilience and intent after the restart, turning the game around with two quick goals.
Habibu Alakija drew the visitors level just two minutes into the second half, before JoFrank Istifanus completed the comeback in the 55th minute with a composed finish to secure all three points on the road.
In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors left it until the closing stages to claim a narrow 1–0 victory over Ikorodu City. The hosts pushed hard throughout the contest and were finally rewarded in the 89th minute when Muktar Ismail struck the decisive goal to hand El-Kanemi maximum points.
Shooting Stars Sports Club also enjoyed a successful outing at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, edging Bendel Insurance 1–0. Qamar Adegoke proved to be the difference-maker, scoring in the 71st minute to seal an important home win for the Oluyole Warriors.
At the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Wikki Tourists returned to winning ways with a solid 2–0 triumph over Kano Pillars. Taheer Abubakar opened the scoring shortly before half-time in the 43rd minute, while Klinshak Longbak doubled the advantage in the 65th minute to ensure a comfortable victory for the hosts.
Fans in Enugu were treated to a thrilling six-goal encounter as Rangers International defeated Wolves 4–2. Godwin Obaje set the tone early, scoring twice within the opening 11 minutes to put Rangers firmly in control. Chimobi Igwilo then added two more goals in the 71st and 76th minutes to extend the lead. Wolves responded through Israel Oladeji and a stoppage-time penalty converted by Seth Mayi, but their late rally proved insufficient.
Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes recorded a convincing 2–0 home win over Enyimba. Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai broke the deadlock in the 66th minute before Rickson Mendos sealed the result with a late goal.
In Kano, Barau FC and Bayelsa United shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw. Bayelsa United went ahead in the 29th minute through Ettah Ikoi, but Barau FC responded quickly, with Yahaya Ibrahim equalising from the penalty spot six minutes later.
The latest round of fixtures continues to shape the NPFL table, with teams jostling for continental qualification places while others battle to avoid the drop as the season gathers momentum.
