Atalanta Slash Lookman’s Price as January Window Nears End
Atalanta have reportedly reduced their asking price for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as the January transfer window enters its final days.
The Serie A club were said to have placed a €55 million valuation on the 2024 African Footballer of the Year last summer, a figure that discouraged several interested teams. Lookman, who was keen on leaving Bergamo, even submitted a transfer request, with the situation briefly straining relations between player and club.
Although he later returned to action, Lookman initially struggled to regain his place before eventually working his way back into Atalanta’s starting XI ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 28-year-old impressed at AFCON in Morocco, delivering a series of standout performances, winning two Man of the Match awards and earning spots in the tournament’s best teams as Nigeria finished third.
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Atalanta are now prepared to listen to offers around €35 million, down from their earlier €45–50 million demand.
The development is expected to boost the chances of clubs such as Fenerbahçe, who are eager to strengthen their squad before the window closes.
Lookman is valued at €35 million on Transfermarkt, and with his contract set to expire next year, Atalanta risk losing him for free if a deal is not reached.
