Akwa United target quick NPFL comeback
Akwa United chairman Joseph Eno has voiced confidence that the club will earn promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the season.
The Uyo-based side currently sit top of their NNL group after collecting 19 points from nine outings, putting them in a strong position ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Eno said unity and backing from all quarters would be key to achieving the club’s objective of an immediate return to the top flight.
“With the backing of the state government, our supporters and committed stakeholders, Akwa United are well placed to secure a fast return to the NPFL,” he said in a statement to the club’s media team.
The Promise Keepers will resume league action with a clash against Rovers FC in their first match of the second stanza.
The second phase of the Nigeria National League season is scheduled to kick off on February 14, 2026.
