Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up about his troubled time at Napoli, claiming the Serie A club treated him unfairly and with disrespect. The comments come in the wake of a TikTok video posted by Napoli, which mocked Osimhen for missing a penalty in a past match against Bologna.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen described his experience at the Italian club as humiliating. “We had a gentleman’s agreement that I could leave the following summer, but the other side didn’t fully fulfill that commitment,” he said. “They tried to send me everywhere, they treated me like a dog. Go here, go there, do this, do that.”
The Galatasaray striker, who recently joined the Turkish giants, emphasized that he could not tolerate such treatment. “I worked so hard for my career, I could not accept that kind of treatment. I’m not a puppet,” Osimhen said. His words highlight the challenges he faced behind the scenes, despite his status as one of Europe’s top forwards.
Osimhen’s comments also shed light on his relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, which he implied had soured during his time at the club. Reports suggest that Osimhen sought a move away from Napoli to continue his career growth, but faced resistance from the club.
Now at Galatasaray, Osimhen is preparing for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 playoff first leg, and he appears determined to leave the controversies of his Napoli spell behind him. The striker has also previously shared his ambitions with the Turkish side, including targeting club goal records and establishing himself among the world’s elite strikers.
Osimhen’s revelations are the latest in a series of candid interviews in which the Super Eagles star has spoken openly about his career decisions, struggles, and aspirations, showing a level of transparency rarely seen among top European players.
