Turkish sports commentator Ibrahim Seten has alleged that Victor Osimhen declined to feature for Galatasaray in their Turkish Super Lig clash against Konyaspor due to a knee injury.
According to Seten, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk wanted the Nigerian striker to travel with the team for the away fixture in Konya. However, Osimhen reportedly informed the coaching crew that he was experiencing knee pain and needed to rest.
Galatasaray eventually suffered a 2-0 defeat in Osimhen’s absence.
Speaking on the 343 Digital YouTube channel, Seten claimed that information from Buruk’s camp indicated Osimhen refused to travel because of discomfort in his knee, insisting that he needed time to recover despite the manager’s wishes.
The Turkish champions will now hope the forward regains full fitness ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League Round of 16 playoff second leg against Juventus in Italy on Wednesday.
