The push for Canada to host the 2026 World Cup as the sole host nation is growing rapidly.
According to an exclusive report from Sport tricks, the number of formal requests from organizations, major sponsors, and consulates has increased sharply in recent weeks.
This surge comes amid ongoing cartel violence and uncertainty in Mexico, plus shootings and mass deportations in the United States.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2026, and conclude on July 19, 2026— marking the first 48-team tournament in history and the biggest edition ever.
It would be the first time the men’s World Cup has been hosted in North America since 1994, when the United States staged the event alone.
The development reflects a clear shift in sentiment among key stakeholders who are now actively calling for Canada to take on the entire tournament independently, highlighting the country’s growing appeal as a secure and reliable venue for the world’s biggest football event.
