Confederation of African Football is set to make an official statement regarding the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in the next 48 hours, according to reports.
Morocco is billed to stage the competition later this month, but there are growing speculations that the tournament could be postponed.
CAF’s Communications Director, Luxolo September, disclosed via a post on X that the continental football body is giving the WAFCON situation “urgent and high-level attention.”
Morocco previously hosted the rescheduled 2024 edition of the tournament and was preparing to welcome teams again for this year’s finals.
As it stands, the competition is scheduled to kick off on March 17 and conclude on April 3, 2026.
The stakes are high, with the four semi-finalists expected to qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
An official pronouncement from CAF is now eagerly awaited by participating nations and stakeholders across the continent.
