Chelsea F.C. have confirmed that young defender Landon Emenalo, son of former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo, has committed his future to the club after signing a new long-term deal.
The announcement was made through a statement published on Chelsea’s official website.
The 18-year-old full-back, who qualifies to represent the United States, Nigeria or England at senior international level, will remain with the Premier League side until at least the end of the 2030/2031 campaign under the terms of the new agreement.
Landon is the son of former Super Eagles defender Michael Emenalo, who featured prominently for Nigeria and was part of the squad during the country’s first appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
A graduate of Chelsea’s youth system, Emenalo first joined the club at the Under-8 level before spending a period at AS Monaco’s academy. He later returned to Chelsea at Under-13 level to continue his development.
In 2024, he was included among the club’s scholars for the 2024/2025 season and went on to sign his first professional contract in January 2025.
During the current campaign, the youngster has featured across several competitions for Chelsea’s youth and development sides, including the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, the Premier League International Cup, FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy.
Although he is yet to make his senior debut for the Blues, the left-back has already been included in three first-team matchday squads, for fixtures against Pafos FC in the Champions League, Legia Warsaw in the Conference League, and Liverpool F.C. in the Premier League.
Born in Arizona in the United States, Emenalo has represented youth national teams of both England and the United States.
